Defending champions UAP Rhinos and the SDV Transami Cheetahs all but secured semi final berths after registering their second successive victories on match day two in the Bamburi Rugby Super Series. The Rhinos romped to a 30-3 win over home side Coastal Bulls at the Mombasa Sports Club while Ian Indimuli’s two tries led the Cheetahs to a narrow 18-14 win over Victoria in Kampala, Uganda. The two sides are perched atop Pools A and B respectively.

Nguvu Sharks rekindle semi final hopes

The Nguvu Sharks rekindle their semi final hopes with a dramatic 32-25 win over 2008 champions Lions in the only fixture played in Nairobi. The two sides were tied 15-15 at half time and the Sharks found themselves trailing 15-25 with twenty seven minutes to go before turning the tide, scoring seventeen unanswered points to claim the result. Despite the win,the Sharks remained third as the Lions claimed two bonus for scoring four tries and losing by seven or less points. This result however set up a tense finish to Pool A action as any of three sides (Rhinos, Lions and Sharks) are all in with a chance at making the semis.

Rwenzori end Buffaloes hopes

Despite Bramwel Shikanda scoring two tries for the Buffaloes,a man of the match performance from Justin Kimono who scored three tries enabled visiting Rwenzori ended the Mumias Sugar Buffaloes interest in the competition with a 28-17 victory in Mumias, setting up a mouth watering clash against fellow Ugandans Victoria in Kampala to determine who joins the Cheetahs in the semis.
