30th March 2011-Bamburi Cement was awarded by the Lafarge Group for the Health & Safety expertise required in gaining superior levels of performance and behaviour amongst its own employees extending it to our Customers, Transporters and Suppliers alike.

“No industrial activity is sustainable without safety. However, this recognition brings with it responsibility. We are saying is that we will not tolerate any unsafe acts within all our plants in Nairobi and Mombasa. It also means that we can guarantee our workers that when they come to work in the morning, they can be sure of going back home to their families safely,” Mr. Hussein Mansi comments on the Excellence Club achievement.

For Bamburi Cement it is a strong testimony of our maturity and concerted efforts towards achieving “world class” Health and Safety standards. It has become a clear way of life for Bamburi Cement’s staff and our partners in fulfilling the strict performance indicators and excelling in the maturity audits carried out throughout its operations in Kenya.

Only two other business units in Africa are members of the club and this induction confirms the Groups resilience in this area despite operating in a very challenging environment.
