Bamburi Haller Park was once a Bamburi quarry wasteland and was rehabilitated into a rich diverse tropical ecosystem.

Bamburi Haller Park, located south of the Cement plant along Mombasa/Malindi highway is a product of the Bamburi Cement company’s effort, since 1971, to convert barren landscape of disused limestone quarries into vibrant and diverse ecosystem of forest, grasslands and ponds. The park was the first recipient of the UNEP Global 500 Roll of Honour award for its unique, ecologically sound and successful rehabilitation undertaken.

Wildlife, Botanical Gardens, Reptile Park and Forest Walks

Bamburi Haller Park is an ideal destination for conservation education. Tailored for learners from preschool to postgraduate levels, the park offers educational tours, special talks in the auditorium, field practical activities, and environmental materials. These programs focus on mining, quarry rehabilitation, and biodiversity, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable practices.

Wildlife Sanctuary and Animal Encounters

Visit the animal orphanage for rescued animals, feed giraffes at the platform, explore crocodile pens with over 90 crocodiles, and see warthogs at the boma. Other animals like monkeys, waterbucks, tortoises, and lizards can be spotted throughout the park.

Reptile Park and Aquaculture

The Aquaculture & Fish Farm features interconnected lakes and ponds with Nile Tilapia, catfish, and red tilapia, supporting biodiversity and offering a glimpse into sustainable fish farming practices.

Botanical Gardens and Butterfly Pavilion

The Butterfly Pavilion, nestled within, showcases iridescent butterfly species, offering a serene experience in butterfly rearing and conservation.

Forest Walks and Conferencing

Embark on a Forest Walk through mangroves, palms, and rare coastal trees, experiencing the beautifully transformed quarry landscape. For groups, the park’s conferencing facilities include an 80-seat auditorium in a serene setting, perfect for creative sessions and events.
