Nairobi …14th August 2025 – Bamburi Cement, in partnership with Isuzu, proudly celebrated the graduation of the 6th cohort of the Women on Wheels (WoW) programme at a ceremony held on Thursday, 14th August 2025, at Isuzu.
The programme, designed to break barriers and empower women in the traditionally male-dominated transport and logistics sector, has now successfully graduated a total of 64 women since its inception. The latest group of graduates demonstrated outstanding resilience, skill, and determination, marking a new milestone in the journey toward inclusivity and diversity in the industry.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bamburi Cement’s representative, Beatrice Kiruri, emphasized the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion:
“The Women on Wheels initiative is a powerful testament to Bamburi Cement’s unwavering commitment to creating room for women in careers that have long been considered male-dominated. With every graduating cohort, we are not just challenging barriers, we are actively dismantling them.”
She added that Bamburi Cement continues to champion women’s empowerment through a holistic approach that includes upskilling female employees, offering mother-child care programs, monthly wellness sessions, and supporting women-owned businesses through the IFC Sourcing2Equal programme.
The 10 graduates join a growing network of female drivers who are paving the way for others to follow. Bamburi Cement encourages more women with the passion and drive to enroll in the upcoming Women on Wheels cohorts and be part of the movement transforming the transport and logistics industry.

Launched by Bamburi Cement in collaboration with Isuzu, the Women on Wheels programme equips women with the skills and training required to become professional drivers in the transport sector. The initiative seeks to address gender gaps, promote inclusivity, and empower women to thrive in roles that have historically been underrepresented.
